Although De Jong is back in action, it’s clear he has not yet reached full fitness. Pedri, however, remains optimistic and believes that De Jong’s top performances are just around the corner, which would be a significant boost for Barcelona’s midfield.

“I’m sure we’ll see the best version of Frenkie soon,” he began saying (h/t FCB World).

Thoughts on Casado

In addition to discussing De Jong, Pedri also highlighted the rising impact of Marc Casado, a player who recently earned his international debut for Spain.

Pedri referred to Casado as a relentless presence on the pitch, praising his tireless efforts to win back possession.

The young player has evidently made a strong impression on his teammates, and Pedri’s admiration underscores the depth of talent Barcelona is fostering within its ranks.

“I appreciate him a lot. I call him ‘the pitbull’ because he always presses like a beast to win the ball back. He’s a player who has surprised me a lot,” he noted.

Pedri himself has been enjoying a standout season, with his performances showing consistent improvement.

One of the key moments came during Barcelona’s dominant 5-1 victory over Sevilla, where Pedri found the back of the net. What made this goal even more memorable was the enthusiastic celebration by manager Hansi Flick.

Such gestures from the coach, according to Pedri, reflect the mutual trust and confidence between them.

“That the coach celebrates your goal in this way shows the confidence he gives me, and I try to return the favour.”

Personal development

Flick’s encouragement seems to be a driving factor in Pedri’s current form, as he feels physically stronger and more regular in his contributions than ever before.

“Yes, you can say that, especially on a physical level. I haven’t felt like this for a long time.

“Now I have the regularity that I’ve been missing for a long time, and when you have regularity you enjoy football more,” he admitted.

On a lighter note, Pedri shared some personal developments that may surprise fans. Beyond football, he is actively learning English and exploring cooking, often in collaboration with his teammate Lamine.

“I’m learning English. And recently I’ve been learning to cook with Lamine.”

Pedri’s reflections not only shed light on his own journey but also provide a glimpse into the promising future of Barcelona, both in terms of individual brilliance and collective growth.
