Kevin Viveros has moved top of the 2026 Brasileirão scoring chart on 16, nudging Flamengo’s Pedro, on 15, into second. For Pedro, the league Golden Boot remains the one major honour he is yet to claim.
According to Globo.com, the Athletico-PR forward took the lead by scoring twice against Botafogo on Monday, emerging as Pedro’s chief rival.
The leading scorers read: Viveros 16, Pedro 15, Carlos Vinícius 10, John Kennedy 9 and Flaco López 8.
Viveros has struck eight in his last eight rounds, a burst that carried him past Pedro. The Flamengo striker has six in his past eight.
Pedro has already led Flamengo’s scoring charts in the Conmebol Libertadores in 2022, the Copa Intercontinental in 2022, the Copa do Brasil in 2023 and the Campeonato Carioca in 2024 and 2026. Finishing as Brasileirão top scorer would be a first in his career.
That pursuit was derailed in 2024 when he ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament during a Brazil training session in September, ruling him out for seven months. He was leading then and, despite missing the final three months, still finished fifth on 11. Yuri Alberto and Alerrandro ended with 15, while Pedro’s 11 came in 21 matches to their 29 and 34.
Attention now turns to Sunday, when Flamengo host Botafogo at the Maracanã and Athletico-PR meet Fluminense at the Arena da Baixada. The next round could bring another change at the top.
