Pedro Emanuel returns to Salvador on Wednesday, 48 days after his 1-0 debut defeat at Vitória’s Barradão, now chasing a Copa do Brasil semi-final berth. In that short span, Vasco have been reshaped in personnel, structure and hierarchy.
According to Globo.com, three arrived, Santiago Sosa, Colidio and Bruno Duarte. Sosa and Colidio are already starters. Bruno Duarte was presented on Monday and will not face Vitória after limited training time following long travel to Rio.
Since debuting against Santos on the 16th, Sosa and Colidio have adapted swiftly, starring in Saturday’s 3-1 win over Cruzeiro, the coach’s first Brasileirão victory. Tchê Tchê opened the scoring, his first goal in almost five months.
Emanuel restored a three-man midfield, with Tchê Tchê and Thiago Mendes trusted and Sosa completing the trio. In the first leg with Vitória, after Barros was sent off early, he pushed Paulo Henrique higher and kept Puma Rodríguez at right-back.
Form has lifted for Cuesta alongside Robert Renan, and for Paulo Henrique. Brenner had progressed but suffered a foot ligament injury and has been out since the 0-0 with Bahia on 9 August.
Others have slipped. Saldivia now trails Cuesta and academy defender Bruno André, Rojas has missed squads due to the foreign limit, and Barros lost his place after errors and dismissals, including that red, with Jair then Sosa preferred.
Investor Marcos Lamacchia has appeared publicly, and a court set rules to sell 90% of Vasco’s SAF.
