Flamengo loanee Pedro Henrique bade a tearful farewell in his final home match for Paysandu, a 1-0 win over Ferroviária at Estádio da Curuzu on Saturday, in the penultimate round of the Série C promotion quadrangular.
According to Coluna Do Fla, the midfielder left in tears at full-time, thanking team-mates and supporters and saying the occasion matched a long-held dream.
He said he would now back his team-mates. He urged fans to keep believing, noted criticism had helped him mature, and said they would work to seek promotion despite a difficult trip to Brusque.
With one round left, Paysandu are bottom on four points. Ferroviária have eight, Inter de Limeira seven and Brusque six. Paysandu must win away to Brusque, need Ferroviária to triumph, and also improve their goal difference, with the top two promoted to Série B.
Flamengo signed Pedro Henrique in April for R$ three million, a record sale for Paysandu, then loaned him back. He agreed a three-year deal to 2029, with Paysandu retaining seven percent of any future profit. He is expected to report to Flamengo after Série C ends for Paysandu on Saturday 10 against Brusque.
Despite his young age, he has been a regular starter and one of the team’s standouts in Série C, contributing two goals and two assists in 35 games. He has also won the Copa Norte, Copa Verde and Campeonato Paraense in 2026.
