According to Glorioso 1904, Pedro Sousa says Richard Ríos will not play for Benfica again while Marco Silva remains in charge, after the midfielder secured a loan to Al Ittihad.
The move was completed following initial hesitation from Ríos, who eventually approved the switch and accepted the Saudi club’s proposal.
Paperwork was exchanged overnight on Wednesday, and the loan was announced later that day.
Benfica will loan Ríos until the end of the 2026/27 season, with no purchase option, in a deal worth around €4 million to the club.
A reduced role under Marco Silva proved decisive, with Ríos used mainly from the bench this season as he sought fresh opportunities.
He departs temporarily after a debut campaign in which he became a key option, making 45 appearances with eight goals and six assists, following a €27 million move from Palmeiras.
