Brazil are still weighing up their centre-forward options for the World Cup, with the final squad to be confirmed. Flamengo striker Pedro remains in contention for a seat on the plane.

According to Coluna Do Fla, he is vying with Igor Thiago, Richarlison and Endrick for a single berth. Endrick has been the standout name for the role, with regular minutes at Lyon, while Igor Thiago is the Premier League’s second-top scorer on 21 goals for Brentford. Richarlison, of Tottenham, is also in the frame.

The Flamengo number nine has featured in every longlist. Under Carlo Ancelotti he was overlooked only when short of minutes or injured.

At the end of 2025, Ancelotti gave the impression he wanted to call the Flamengo number nine if he had not fractured his arm against Racing of Argentina in the Copa Libertadores, after which Pedro lost ground with Brazil.

Pedro has reasserted himself at Flamengo since the arrival of Portuguese coach Leonardo Jardim, scoring five goals and supplying one assist in eight games.

The CBF will unveil the World Cup squad on 18 May in Rio de Janeiro, and it is expected that Léo Pereira and Danilo, both from Flamengo, will be included.
