According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Besiktas had come knocking on the number 7’s door, while Juventus had also made several inquiries with his entourage.

There was also interest from England, with Brighton among the clubs that had come forward to assess the player’s availability. Pellegrini, however, has never actually considered leaving Roma.

The midfielder has always wanted to continue wearing the Giallorossi jersey, even if it meant giving up more advantageous financial conditions.

The 1996-born player has indeed accepted the idea of ​​a one-season renewal and a significant salary reduction.

The new deal is expected to start at around €2.5 million plus bonuses, compared to the approximately €6.5 million he earned last season.
