Pep Guardiola is the best around, trophy after trophy with Manchester City after the same with Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

However, it just shows that even the best can crumble under pressure, when reacting to adversity, things not going their way.

Pep Guardiola and his Manchester City team turned up at St James’ Park last weekend on a run of 14 games that had seen only one defeat, with 11 wins and two draws.

The Man City boss though still under pressure, as his team needed to win at Newcastle United if they were to not drop too far behind Arsenal in the title race.

What followed though was Newcastle United proving far more threatening and outplaying Manchester City, the visitors fortunate to lose by only the one goal margin.

Pep Guardiola proving the epitome of the proverbial bad loser, with his embarrassing behaviour after the final whistle at St James’ Park.

The Man City manager embarrassingly confronted Bruno Guimaraes, he also did the same with the match referee, whilst maybe most embarrassing of all, Pep Guardiola even confronted a cameraman.

When reflecting later, Pep Guardiola did at least apologise for taking out his anger and frustration out on the cameraman…

“I apologise. I feel embarrassed and ashamed. I don’t like it. I apologised after one second.

“I am who I am. Even after one thousand games, I’m not a perfect person, I make huge mistakes.

“What is for sure, I defend my team and my club. The reason why is I want to defend my team and my club. There is no doubt.

“From my experience to win the Premier League, we have to have 100 points and 98 points otherwise we don’t win.”

Whilst Pep Guardiola talked a good game in terms of making it appear he had got that anger and frustration out of his system thanks to what Newcastle United had done to his psyche, his next team selection told us otherwise…

Against Bayer Leverkusen in midweek, Pep Guardiola losing the plot when changing ten of his team. A chastening 2-0 home defeat to the Bundesliga team followed.

The Manchester City boss then himself admitted that he may have overreacted a ‘little’ too much, when making those ten changes and falling to another defeat.

Now on Saturday at home to Leeds, Pep Guardiola has made nine changes, reverting back to his first choice team that lost to Newcastle United, apart from Tijjani Reijnders playing instead of Rayan Cherki.

Always interesting to see how even somebody at the very top of their profession, as Pep Guardiola is, can have lost h=the plot so badly this past week.

For what it’s worth, I think Manchester City will win today and then go on and finish top of the Premier League at the end of the season, overhauling Arsenal.

With Pep Guardiola, form is temporary and class is permanent. He has had bad week but won’t have a bad season.
