Bim Pepple has been handed his first senior call-up by Canada after a superb run of form for Plymouth Argyle, giving the striker a real chance to push for a place at this summer’s World Cup.

The 23-year-old has joined up with the national squad in Toronto ahead of friendlies against Iceland and Tunisia - Canada’s final matches before head coach Jesse Marsch names his tournament squad.

Pepple’s rise over the past year has been remarkable. Just 15 months ago he was playing National League football on loan at Southend United from Luton Town. Now he finds himself in contention for a spot at the biggest tournament in world football.

Since moving to Home Park last summer, the forward has scored 15 goals in all competitions, including 13 in League One. Even more impressively, no player across England’s top four divisions has scored more domestic goals in 2026 than Pepple, who has hit 12 since the turn of the year.

Pepple’s form has also coincided with Plymouth’s surge up the table. The Pilgrims have climbed from the relegation places at the start of the year to seventh after their recent win over Huddersfield Town - a game in which Pepple was again on the scoresheet before flying out to meet up with the Canada squad.

The upcoming fixtures now give him a valuable opportunity to show he belongs at international level — and strengthen his case for a place at the World Cup on home soil.
