Peque slips out of Sevilla plans after four straight LaLiga games unused | OneFootball

Peque has slipped out of Sevilla’s plans under Luis García Plaza. Since 29 August he has not played a minute after featuring in all three opening LaLiga matches. La Colina De Nervion notes a marked shift in his role this month.

He came on at half-time against Rayo Vallecano, then converted a penalty in minute 97 for a 2-1 win. That display earned starts against Athletic Club at San Mamés and a week later against Atlético de Madrid, before Isaac Romero replaced him on minute 68.

His tally stopped there. He has not featured against Espanyol, Valencia, Deportivo de La Coruña or Barcelona. Versus Valencia the coach used all five changes, bringing on Robbie Ure, Chidera Ejuke, Otar Kiteishvili, Jon Guridi and Julio Díaz, while the No 10 stayed unused.

The scene repeated against Barcelona as Ejuke, José Ángel Carmona, Isaac Romero, Guridi and Alfon González came on. Peque has dropped out of the starting line-up and from the manager’s in-game plans as well.

The transfer window has increased competition in his areas. Youssouf Fofana, Félix Correia and Lucas Stassin arrived to join Miguel Sierra, Guridi, Ejuke, Alfon and Isaac Romero in the attacking and midfield options.

This has been no taper, but a sudden stop after those consecutive starts, leaving the No 10 waiting for another opportunity.
