Daniel Peretz is facing a premature end to his HSV adventure. The Israeli international goalkeeper, who was loaned to Hamburg by FC Bayern in the summer, is not getting beyond the role of No. 2 there – and a winter transfer is taking on ever more concrete form

As the BILD podcast Bayern Insider reports, Southampton FC are looking closely at signing the 25-year-old

Tobi Altschäffl confirms in the podcast that Southampton scouts were in the stadium at HSV’s cup game against Holstein Kiel to watch Peretz in person. The Israeli keeper put in a strong performance, but it did nothing to change the reality: Jorge Fernandes remains the starter in Hamburg

According to Altschäffl, „two other clubs from the Championship“ in addition to Southampton have shown interest, which is an important signal for Peretz – because without match practice, his development threatens to stagnate

Peretz had clear conditions – and Bayern had made a promise

It was already agreed between Bayern, HSV and the player in the summer that if Peretz did not become number one by the winter break, his situation would be reassessed. This is exactly what has now happened. Fernandes remains the regular goalkeeper and the Israeli continues to sit on the bench despite a good cup performance

Altschäffl sums it up clearly: „It was clear to him that if he wasn’t number 1 by the winter, then he wanted to leave.“

Peretz wants to play – and has to in order to consolidate his role in the Israeli national team. Staying in Hamburg is of no sporting interest to him

From FC Bayern’s point of view, the move is understandable. In their own squad, Munich are relying on Manuel Neuer and Jonas Urbig in the long term, while Peretz already had no real prospect of playing time in the summer. Another loan without playing minutes would make no sense

That’s why those responsible support a departure – whether on loan or with an option to buy. It is important for Bayern that Peretz gains match practice at a high level. Southampton, in the top third of the Championship, offers good conditions for this, both in sporting and strategic terms

Peretz has strong reactions, a good penalty area presence and a modern goalkeeper profile. But he cannot develop all of this without regular appearances. A move to England would allow him to get back into real competition

The trend is clear: Peretz will leave Hamburg in the winter, with Bayern supporting the move.
