Real Madrid fear the worst regarding the injury to superstar Kylian Mbappe.

Sergio Lopez of AS reports that the initial assessment of his knee injury has produced ‘bad vibes’ within the club.

As such, there is pessimism following the first examinations, with the full results expected in few hours.

Mbappe injured on national team duty

Mbappe was injured during yesterday’s match between Turkey and France in the UEFA Nations League.

The Real Madrid superstar scored the only goal of the game as France emerged victorious on Zinedine Zidane’s debut as national-team coach, but the price was high. He injured his knee during the move that led to the goal.

Zidane subsequently confirmed that the injury did not look good and that, as a precaution, Mbappe would return to Madrid and leave the France camp.

While Mbappe’s France teammate, Rayan Cherki, suggested that the issue was not serious, initial feelings within the Real Madrid camp do not appear to be as positive.

The results of the detailed examinations at Valdebebas are expected later this evening, following which a clear picture of the injury and the possible time out will emerge.

For now, the mood at Real Madrid as is described as pessimistic regarding the French forward’s injury.

Following the derby defeat, concerns have already grown among the fans, and losing Mbappe now would come at a difficult time.

The upcoming schedule includes matches against Villarreal, AS Roma, and Sevilla, with El Clasico against Barcelona also approaching in a month.

Losing Mbappe, who has scored eight goals and assisted two goals already this season in all competitions, at such a critical stage will be a bitter blow for Jose Mourinho and the team.

For now, the wait continues for the results which will give a clear indication of the extent of the Frenchman’s injury and his eventual recovery time.
