Sunderland rounded off their US tour with a win over Phil Parkinson’s Wrexham in Philadelphia, Nordi Mukiele’s strike settling the friendly.

According to Sunderland Echo, Wrexham improved late on after a younger Black Cats side entered, but the victory was deserved and will encourage Regis Le Bris.

Goalkeeper Robin Roefs returned and had little shot-stopping to do, yet his generally strong distribution opened up opportunities. He was rated seven.

Right-back Mukiele was a constant threat in the first half and finished first time from a tight angle. He departed early in the second half looking uncomfortable, which is a concern for Sunderland, and was rated seven.

Centre-back Dan Ballard produced a strong half, making an early block and dominating his duel with the Wrexham forwards. He was rated seven.

Luke O’Nien was not overly tested defensively and kept the ball moving quickly and precisely. He was rated six.
