Didier Deschamps has set a World Cup record for a head coach with 17 victories.

France beat Sweden 3-0 on Tuesday to reach the last 16, a result that moved Deschamps past Germany’s Helmut Schön, who had 16. According to L'Équipe, the FFF marked the milestone by presenting a France shirt customised with his name and the number 17.

Federation president Philippe Diallo said the run is still alive as he handed over the shirt.

Deschamps is currently overseeing his fourth World Cup as France manager.

If Kylian Mbappé and his team-mates go all the way at this tournament and win every game, Deschamps could reach 21 victories.
