Celtic face Hibernian this afternoon in the Scottish Premiership. The Scottish Champions will be hoping to go within two points of leaders Hearts with a win at Easter Rd. However, there is a reduced away support in Leith after the Edinburgh club opted to cut Celtic’s allocation.
The Celtic support, who have previously held all of the South Stand, have slowly seen their allocation cut to just a section of Stand. Hibs decided to do this in order to sell tickets to their own fans, which makes sense if there’s a demand for it. Although, as the players lined up, it was clear that their efforts to sell the South Stand lower section had been unsuccessful and they had not even opened the upper section.
The number of empty seats around the ground begs the question why Hibs have shot themselves in the foot by passing up a chance to host more paying Celtic fans.
