Pierre Sage says he wants Ismaila Sarr to remain at Crystal Palace after Galatasaray showed interest, with a bid rejected as it fell well short of the club’s valuation. The 28-year-old forward did not travel for Saturday’s Premier League opener at Everton.
Palace have reinforced this summer with defenders Anan Khalaili, Oscar Mingueza and Takehiro Tomiyasu and wingers Dwight McNeil and Zavier Gozo. The Athletic reports that the club are also in talks to take Chelsea defender Axel Disasi on loan.
Sage had said on Thursday Sarr would be available, but after the 2-0 defeat at Everton he explained the forward has been managing a slight groin issue that had worsened. Interest from Türkiye has been unsettling.
The manager said he, the doctor and Sarr decided before their training session the previous day that the player should receive treatment instead of travelling. He stopped short of a clear denial when asked whether Sarr wants to leave.
Sage added that Palace do not want Sarr to go, that he has three years left on his contract and that he will be with them on Monday.
Sarr joined from Marseille in summer 2024 for €15 million. He made 45 appearances last season, scoring 21 goals with two assists as Palace finished 15th and won the Conference League. He has 92 appearances and 33 goals for the club and was part of the FA Cup-winning side in 2025, the club’s first major trophy.
He also scored four goals as Senegal reached the last-32 at this summer’s World Cup. Uncertainty remains over the futures of Jean-Philippe Mateta and Daniel Munoz.
