Fiorentina discovered their opponents in the league phase of this season’s UEFA Conference League yesterday and La Viola head coach Stefano Pioli has described it as “demanding in terms of the importance of the teams we’ll face, but easier in terms of travel.”
Speaking to the club’s official channels, with quotes via FiorentinaNews, ahead of tomorrow’s Serie A clash against Torino, Pioli described the club’s run of four consecutive away games as “challenging”, adding that “we prepared in a certain way so that we would finish in the best possible condition.”

Pioli is aware of the threat Torino pose, calling the Turin side a “good team who lost against an Inter side that played with quality and efficiency.” Pioli added, “The truth is that every match has its own story: we’re up against a physical opponent, with legs, height and aggression. We need to prepare well to overcome these obstacles and keep control of the game without suffering too much.”
With their 6-2 aggregate win over Polissya in the qualifying round, La Viola booked their place in the league phase of this season’s Conference League. Fiorentina reached the semi-final of the competition last time, losing to La Liga outfit Real Betis.

This season, the Serie A club will play Rapid Vienna, Mainz and Lausanne away, with home ties against Dynamo Kyiv, AEK Athens and Sigma Olomouc.
Commenting on the draw, Pioli said “We’ll have to work hard in the group stage in the best possible way, but we are Fiorentina and we know where we want to go. We respect our opponents but we focus on what we can put on the pitch: quality, determination and the ambition to go all the way in the competition.”
Concluding, the Italian coach said “The team is doing well. Qualifying for Europe has given us the right sense of calm after achieving our first seasonal objective, especially with a comeback victory.”
