Michael Olise will definitely not be leaving FC Bayern this summer. In the long term, however, the Munich club is apparently already exploring possible alternatives for the French attacking star. One name that’s coming up is Morgan Gibbs-White of Nottingham Forest.

The weeks of speculation surrounding Michael Olise and Real Madrid have come to an end—at least for this transfer window. The Royals have already made a high-profile addition to their offense in Yan Diomande and will not make another move for the 24-year-old.

In any case, Bayern Munich officials had recently made it clear on several occasions that selling their key player is out of the question. Olise is under contract until 2029, and the Munich club even wants him to extend his contract early.

In doing so, the German record champions hope to prevent any serious transfer speculation from arising in the coming years. Whether this will succeed remains to be seen. According to French media reports, Olise is reportedly open to the idea of a move to Real Madrid in principle.

Gibbs-White as a possible successor to Olise

In the event of a future departure, FC Bayern appears to already be exploring potential alternatives. As reported by the British Daily Mail, Morgan Gibbs-White is considered one of the most interesting candidates. The English international is reportedly even regarded as the “top favorite” to succeed Olise.

The 26-year-old is under contract with Nottingham Forest and has developed into one of the Premier League’s most standout attacking players in recent years. Last season, Gibbs-White racked up an impressive 27 points in 55 competitive matches.

Given his versatility, the Englishman would generally fit the Munich club’s requirements. Gibbs-White can play both in attacking midfield and on the wings and is currently valued at around 70 million euros.

BILD’s head of soccer, Christian Falk, also confirms in the “Bayern-Insider” podcast that Gibbs-White’s name is on the German record champions’ list.

No concrete move by Bayern at this time

However, an imminent transfer is not on the table. According to information from Falk, there are currently neither serious efforts nor concrete attempts by Bayern to sign him.

There is currently no reason for such a move. Olise is firmly in the plans and, alongside Harry Kane and Luis Diaz, is one of the most important players in Vincent Kompany’s offense. Rather, Gibbs-White appears to be a player the Munich club is keeping an eye on as a precaution for the future.

A transfer would be anything but easy anyway. Following Elliot Anderson’s departure to Manchester City, Nottingham Forest does not want to lose another key player. Club owner Evangelos Marinakis and new head coach Oliver Glasner instead want to further strengthen the squad.

Gibbs-White had only signed a new three-year contract last summer, after a move to Tottenham had been on the verge of being finalized. The new contract made the England international the highest-paid player in the club’s history.

For Bayern, Gibbs-White thus remains an option for the future—at least for now. The clear priority in Munich is, in any case, to prevent Olise from leaving in the first place and to secure the Frenchman’s long-term commitment to the record champions.
