Plata e Valencia called up by Ecuador, Flamengo tally further absences during FIFA window | OneFootball

Flamengo confirmed Gonzalo Plata and Anthony Valencia had been called up by Ecuador during this FIFA window. The club said in a post that both would report for upcoming friendlies.

Ecuador face South Korea on 24 September in Suwon, then Japan on one October in Yokohama in the Kirin Cup. A third opponent, Panama or New Zealand, will be set depending on the Japan result and tournament outcomes.

Ecuador played the 2026 World Cup in Group E, losing 1-0 to Ivory Coast, and drawing 0-0 with Curaçao and Germany. They went out in the group stage. Plata and Valencia were in that squad.

Flamengo will also be without Arrascaeta and Varela, both called by Uruguay. Pedro and Samuel Lino are in Brazil’s squad for friendlies against Australia and India.

Carrascal was not selected by Colombia. Jorginho was not called by Italy, and De La Cruz also missed out with Uruguay.

Flamengo host Red Bull Bragantino on Sunday 20 September in the 28th round of the Brasileirão, kick-off 18:30 Brasília time at the Maracanã. The international absences take effect only after this match.
