Martín Palermo’s side aim to make home advantage count in a landmark season, the club’s first in international competition. They reached the knockouts after finishing second in their group on 10 points, with three wins, one draw and two defeats.

Qualification was sealed by a 2-0 victory over Corinthians in São Paulo. Palermo has recently returned to the dugout, starting his new spell with a 1-0 win at Independiente in Avellaneda in the Torneo Clausura.

Coquimbo Unido topped their group with 10 points, ahead of Deportes Tolima, Nacional of Uruguay and Universitario of Perú. Hernán Caputto’s team are enjoying one of the strongest periods in their history after winning a first Chilean title in 2025, then the Supercopa.

The second leg is scheduled for Wednesday 19 August at 19.00 at Francisco Sánchez Rumoroso in Coquimbo, where the quarter-finalists will be decided.
