Southampton squeezed into round four with a 3-2 win at Doncaster, having been 3-0 up at the break, as Cameron Bragg netted his first senior goal.
According to Sainstmarching.com, head coach Tonda Eckert switched to a back four for the first time since taking charge, made multiple changes and handed new signing Peretz his debut.
Bragg pounced after Kuryu Matsuki’s shot was parried, then Cameron Archer’s deflected strike looped over Thimothée Lo-Tutala. Peretz saved Jordan Gibson’s free-kick at 2-0 before Matsuki headed the third. Half-time, Doncaster Rovers 0-3 Southampton.
Matthew Pearson reduced the deficit with an unchallenged header from a Robbie Gotts corner early in the second half. On 59 minutes Gibson found space in the box and drove low past Peretz. Eckert introduced Léo Scienza and Nathan Wood for Jay Robinson and Elias Jelert.
Ross Stewart and Caspar Jander replaced Archer and Bragg, with Adam Armstrong later on for Matsuki. Peretz made an outstanding double save in stoppage time to seal progression. Full-time, Doncaster Rovers 2-3 Southampton.
