Paris FC defeated RC Strasbourg Alsace (2-0) to extend their unbeaten streak to five games and temporarily climb to second place in the Ligue 1 standings.

The Match

Yes, Paris FC will certainly be a force to be reckoned with in the 2026-27 season. The Strasbourg players wouldn’t argue with that. Put under intense pressure from the very start of the match by the high press imposed by the men of Liam Rosenior – facing his former club – the Alsatians initially buckled before eventually breaking down. Yet Filip Jörgensen once again stepped into the role of savior, making three saves – two of them against Lassine Sinayoko – in the first quarter-hour. And it took Ilan Kebbal to showcase all his finesse, finally beating the Danish goalkeeper with a subtle lob. A well-deserved opening goal for a Parisian team that dominated throughout the first half, though they were unable to add to their lead before halftime.

The Strasbourg side tried to capitalise on this, starting the second half at full throttle and forcing Kevin Trapp into a fine save from Sebastian Nanasi. But having pressed without converting their chances, Hugo Oliveira’s players were eventually made to pay. Following a fine team move initiated by Sinayoko, who put in a top-class performance, Pablo Pagis – who was also in fine form – went on, like Kebbal earlier in the match, to score his first goal of the season with a superb first-time finish just before the hour mark.

The goal came as a real blow to Strasbourg, who subsequently seemed unable to mount any further attacks on the opposition’s goal. And this was despite them pulling one back in the dying moments of the match, following a defensive error by Moustapha Mbow, who scored an own goal, reigniting a glimmer of hope that was quickly dashed by the referee’s final whistle. This did nothing, however, to dampen the electric atmosphere, with Rosenior taunting the stand packed with his former supporters, who, just a few minutes earlier, had not hesitated to direct a few colourful remarks his way, recalling the good – or, clearly, bad – memories of their time together. A highly tense end to the match.

He opened his goalscoring account and got the match off to the best possible start. Also involved in the second goal, Ilan Kebbal stood out just as much for his play with the ball as without it, making numerous runs to lend a hand in defence.

Undoubtedly Strasbourg’s best player of the match. Often left to do the work of two men, Ismaël Doukouré gave as much as he could, thwarting Paris FC’s attacks and demonstrating his ability to read the game.

A very tough match for the Spaniard, who only managed to touch the ball 13 times and lost more than a third of those. Although he put in a lot of effort, his contribution was ultimately too limited.
