Paris FC secured their first win of the season following a convincing performance against OGC Nice. Lassine Sinayoko, the Parisians’ star summer signing, scored his first goal for his new club.

The Match

It was a match that got off to a lively start, but neither side was able to pose a threat in front of the opposition’s goal. It wasn’t until the twentieth minute of play that Lassine Sinayoko converted a penalty – his first goal for PFC – following a run by Ilan Kebbal that was brought down by Youssouf Ndayishimiye, sending a first wave of excitement through the supporters packed into the stands at the Jean-Bouin Stadium.

The first… and the only one in a relatively lacklustre first half between two sides keen to close down the spaces and prevent their opponents’ counter-attacks.

Although active, the Nice players posed little threat in the first half and began the second with the intention of being more incisive. But it was ultimately the Parisians who struck first, managing to double their lead following a fine move between Kebbal and Samir Chergui, finished off by the latter.

Undeterred, Nice tried to respond, forcing Kevin Trapp into action on two occasions (67’, 69’) to prevent the deficit from being reduced. Boosted by the introduction of Patrick Zabi and Rudy Matondo, Paris FC finished the match strongly, even scoring a third goal in the closing stages to secure their first win of the season. And, for the time being, top spot in the table.

Playing in the heart of the Parisian side, Lees-Melou was the standout performer for Paris FC this afternoon. Imperious in defence – notably setting a record for the number of duels won (10) – the former Brest player proved to be a true playmaker in the midfield.

He was the man who initiated the penalty, which he then stepped up to take himself, scoring his first goal for Paris FC. Involved in building up play, Sinayoko did not hesitate to put in repeated defensive efforts, also using his physical presence to put pressure on the Nice defence.

OGC Nice’s technical anchor. Diop tried hard, making himself available, but struggled to link up with his team-mates. His off-the-ball work was invaluable, and he produced a superb key pass to Nathan N’Goumou.

It was a tough match for the Nice goalkeeper, who made several errors in his clearances and conceded three goals, although he wasn’t always supported by his defence.
