Inter Miami dropped points at home in a 2-2 draw with New York Red Bulls, their third stalemate of the season.
Coming off a home opener against Austin FC last Saturday, they had hoped for a first win at the Nu Stadium. According to interheron.com, tactical problems persisted, which the visitors exploited in defence and midfield.
Player ratings follow, scored from one to 10, with five to six average or below, and substitutes judged accordingly.
Dayne St. Clair, six and a half, was not chiefly at fault. Sergio Reguilón, five, played one half and was withdrawn, the reason was unclear. Micael, six point eight, was better than Maxi Falcon, five point six, who was out of position for New York’s first. Ian Fray, six and a half, overlapped before injury forced him off.
Yannick Bright, seven, impressed with defensive work and progressive passes. Rodrigo De Paul, six point seven, assisted but his lax recovery contributed to New York’s second. Telasco Segovia, six point six, looked sharper. Lionel Messi, eight, could only do so much. German Berterame, seven point eight, scored, and Mateo Silvetti, seven point nine, supported well.
From the bench, Daniel Pinter, five point six, tried to stretch play but looked lost. Gonzalo Lujan, six, was steady without finding a winner, and Luis Suarez was unrated after a short cameo. A longer tactical breakdown may follow, and Miami need to reset to avoid sliding down the Eastern Conference.
