Italy had so many scoring opportunities and failed to make the most of them, fumbling a lead from Sandro Tonali’s well-worked move to once again concede a pair of German headers in the Nations League quarter-final.
Here are the player ratings after Italy capitulated to Germany at San Siro.

Donnarumma 5.5 – Germany tried to pressure him on corner kicks and ultimately they found a way through. Could have done more on the second goal.
Di Lorenzo 5.5 – Focused and ready to help his teammates whenever they made a mistake in the first half, but struggled more after the break.
Bastoni 5 – Tricked by Germany strikers inside the box.
Calafiori 5.5 – Eager to push in the final third, but not so attentive defensively.
Politano 6 – Involved in Tonali’s opening goal, but was busier defensively than in attack for the rest of the match (63′ Bellanova 5).

Barella 7– Like Bastoni, he played at home, but the Inter midfielder showed outsdandig stamina as usual and proved to be the most technically gifted Italian midfielder. (84′ Frattesi N/A)
Rovella 5.5 – A bit hidden in central midfield, he got the first yellow card in the game. (63′ Ricci 5.5).
Tonali 7.5 – Scored his second international goal after a quick counter-attack. Could have netted the second one from outside the box before the break, but his shot from the edge of the box was blocked. Inspired. A magical week.
Udogie 5.5 – Didn’t push much down th left flank, but used his physicality well in defence.
Raspadori 5.5 – Missed a golden chance to take the lead in the second half (71′ Maldini 6)
Kean 6 – Won many physical duels with Tah. Not that easy. Denied by the Germany keeper in the first half, the second attempt was sent over the crossbar. (84′ Lucca N/A)
Coach: Spalletti 5.5 – His Italy side did what he expected. The Azzurri played on par against a team that has more quality but didn’t make the most of their chances. The bad news is that the Azzurri conceded too easily with headers inside the box.
