(A score of six is around average.)

Ratings

Elyh Harrison – 7 – Made a pair of good saves in the first half and looked his usual confident self with the ball at his feet.

Habeeb Ogunneye – 6 – Linked up well with Kamason down the right wing and delivered some dangerous balls into the box.

Sonny Aljofree – 5 – He lost Justin Oguntolu in the box, giving Derby a far too easy goal, and with his experience should have done much better.

Louis Jackson – 6 – Was not tested much defensively but looked comfortable when he was. In possession, he could have moved the ball a bit quicker as Derby were happy to let him have it.

Diego Leon – 7 – One of his best performances yet. He was good defensively when one-on-one and recovered well when he committed himself too much. Offensively, he consistently fed the ball through to Sharpe and was dangerous on corners in the air, but just could not find the end product on the day.

Rafe McCormack – 6 – Comfortable on the ball, but could have been more expansive and more alert to Derby’s counters defensively. Overall, a decent full debut for the Under-21s.

Jack Moorhouse – 6 – A decent first half; he utilised his dribbling through the midfield to launch attacks but could not produce the final ball and drifted out of the match when Derby parked the bus in the second half.

Jaydan Kamason – 7 – Playing in a more advanced role than usual on the right wing, he was the key creator in United’s attack as he had the beating of his man and delivered some dangerous crosses. He also tested the keeper late on when he cut inside onto his weaker left foot.

James Bailey – 6 – Delivered top-notch corners with speed and whip that had Derby looking very nervous but could not replicate that creativity during open play.

Malachi Sharpe – 6 – In attack, he did a lot of good work with his movement in behind and Derby’s defenders often could not keep up with his speed. However, he could not take his chances and really should have come away with at least one goal. His knockdown in the box late on assisted Bradbury for the equaliser. His backing away from the ball also led to the interception before Derby’s goal.

Chido Obi – 6.5 – Should have had an assist when he put Sharpe clear through in the box and almost scored himself when he hit the post. In general, he looked dangerous when he got the ball, including a nice run after drifting out to the left wing, but found it hard to get involved at times amidst a very deep and congested Derby backline.

Substitutes

Finley McAllister – 6.5 – Added a bit of bite in the midfield and some intensity as United looked a bit pedestrian at times.

Louie Bradbury – 7.5 – Came on to provide a threat and score a goal, and he did just that. Great poacher’s instinct to peel off his marker and finish from Sharpe’s knockdown in the area.

Godwill Kukonki – N/A – Not on the pitch for long enough.
