Last season was nothing short of disappointing for Piotr Zielinski.

Despite joining Inter as one of Serie A’s finest midfielders, the Polish star couldn’t settle into Simone Inzaghi’s system.

Therefore, the Nerazzurri even considered offloading the former Napoli playmaker in the summer.

Luckily, they didn’t.

Although Zielinski only scored once this season, his performances have been superb.

New manager Cristian Chivu has helped the Pole establish himself as a key component in Inter’s midfield.

Furthermore, Zielinski’s versatility allows him to play anywhere across the midfield, which gives Inter valuable tactical flexibility.

As such, he has often deputized for Hakan Calhanoglu as a deep-lying playmaker.

Indeed, Zielinski has been Chivu’s third-most-used midfielder this term.

Only Calhanoglu and Nicolo Barella have made more minutes in Serie A than Zielinski this season, testifying to his meteoric rise.
