Borussia Mönchengladbach’s winless run extended to seven games on Sunday, as Die Fohlen were beaten 2-1 away by SC Freiburg.

With Gladbach now just two points above the relegation zone, pressure is mounting on the team – and on head coach Eugen Polanski. For now, however, his job appears safe.

“He has our full trust," Borussia Mönchengladbach's head of sport, Rouven Schröder, told DAZN on Sunday.

"He will do everything to prepare the team as best as possible against Union Berlin (on Saturday). If we didn’t believe he could do it, we would take action.

“In the end, it’s all of us – especially the players – who are responsible for implementing things properly. Now it’s about putting a finger on the wound, but also giving the guys our trust. This is professional sport. Just hammering down on them is definitely not a solution,” Schröder added.

Polanski took over from Gerardo Seoane in September and was given the job permanently in November.
