Police prevented a potential clash between Paris Saint-Germain and Olympique de Marseille supporters at Marseille’s Saint-Charles station on Saturday morning.
One week after PSG beat OM 5-0 at the Parc des Princes, tensions between rival ultras remained high. According to La Provence, about 15 PSG fans travelled south by train aiming to reach Nîmes for a pre-arranged fight linked to the National 2 match between Nîmes and Toulon.
At around 09:00, as the Parisian group transited through Saint-Charles to change trains, roughly 30 Marseille supporters gathered, apparently seeking an initial confrontation.
Officers intervened quickly to keep the groups apart. Tear gas was reportedly used to disperse those present before violence could erupt.
Three people were detained and the travelling PSG supporters were instructed to return to Paris.
