Policing stepped up for Lyon v Auxerre after recent violence | OneFootball

Police will deploy a reinforced operation around the Décines stadium on Friday night for Olympique Lyonnais v Auxerre, after violence around last weekend's Ligue 1 fixture with Le Havre.

According to L'Équipe, prefect Étienne Guyot has ordered more officers and the mobilisation of CRS 83, a mobile unit specialising in urban disorder. The game is not classed as high risk, but incidents at the last match and recent tensions prompted the move.

On Saturday night, after OL's 1-1 draw with Le Havre, a couple were assaulted near the ground. The woman, a local councillor from neighbouring Rillieux-la-Pape, said in a Facebook post they were racially abused by OL supporters before being struck.

Just before kick-off that day, two others, including a 17-year-old, were also beaten. The teenager's mother told Le Progrès he was with friends when a group of several dozen people, some masked, hurled racist slurs and death threats, before he was punched and kicked.

The public prosecutor's office confirmed two separate criminal investigations for aggravated violence resulting in a total incapacity for work of more than eight days.
