Porto among clubs planning January move for Barcelona starlet

Barcelona are likely to be relatively busy during the winter transfer window, which opens for business in less than 24 hours’ time. They are hoping to bring in a defender on loan, and there could also be a player or two that heads out of the Spotify Camp Nou exit door.

One player that has been linked with a possible exit is Roony Bardghji. Signed in the summer from FC Copenhagen, the Swedish winger has struggled for regular minutes, given that he is up against Lamine Yamal on the right side of Barcelona’s attack. Clubs have become aware of his situation, and with January looming, they could be prepared to strike.

As per Sport, FC Porto keen on Bardghji, who has one goal and two assists in only 341 minutes across 13 appearances this season, but they are not the only ones, with it noted that clubs from across the major leagues in Europe are keeping tabs on the 20-year-old.

Barcelona stance on Bardghji exit

Bardghji may have struggled for playing time in the first half of the season, but he is considered to be a very important player for Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick. As such, the expectation is that no offers will be entertained during the winter transfer window, with the Catalans not prepared to let players leave that are counted on by their manager.

It makes a lot of sense for Barcelona to keep Bardghji around until the summer at least. In the limited minutes he’s had, he’s shown himself to be a differential option, so it is no wonder that Flick likes him. Furthermore, the Catalans have a small squad due to their inability to operate at full capacity in the transfer market, so unless a player is deemed surplus to requirements, such as Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, then they will not be allowed to leave unless an unrejectable offer comes in.
