Porto are close to a deal for Rennes midfielder Seko Fofana, who has also been linked with Benfica. Talks are advanced and the move is expected to be a loan until the end of the season with an option to buy for the 30-year-old.
According to A Bola, Fofana earns about €3.6 million at Rennes, who paid €20 million to Al Nassr, and he is under contract until June 2029. The same report says the player was an express request from Francesco Farioli.
Born in Paris, Fofana has had limited minutes this season and wants to keep playing regularly to arrive in peak condition for the 2026 World Cup. Ivory Coast are in Group E with Germany, Curaçao and Ecuador.
He recently featured at the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, reaching the quarter-finals. Ivory Coast were eliminated 3-2 by Egypt, with Fofana only introduced on 89 minutes for Christ Oulai.
In the 2025/26 campaign for Rennes, the midfielder, valued at €8 million, has made 12 appearances. He has scored one goal in 654 minutes under Senegalese coach Habib Beye.
