Joost Blaauwhof has revealed that Porto are showing interest in signing PSV’s Brazilian midfielder Mauro Júnior. The Eredivisie champions would like to negotiate a new contract with Júnior due to the release clause currently in his contract, one that Porto is hoping to take advantage of. However, the club and player have not agreed on a new deal as of yet and Júnior is said to be hoping to represent Brazil in the future. This aspiration will likely have an impact on where he ends up next season, with Porto certainly offering an opportunity, although PSV could argue that they do as well.

The 27-year-old is currently under contract until 2029, but that release clause means that PSV risk losing him to Porto this summer. Júnior joined PSV as a youngster in 2017, making his debut during the 2017/2018 season. During the 2019/2020 campaign he was loaned to Heracles, where he scored six goals and grabbed seven assists in 29 games. Júnior has been a regular for PSV over the past few seasons, with his most recent campaign being his best in terms of assists. Clearly, Porto are attracted to the player after he provided PSV with 11 assists in 37 games.
