Jed Wallace’s time at West Brom could come to an end this summer amid the expiration of his contract.

A return to Portsmouth is one option that might be on the table, having come through the ranks of the academy system before departing Fratton Park in 2015.

The forward has struggled for game time this season, featuring just 27 times in the Championship, including only six starts.

With his deal set to conclude in the summer, speculation persists over the next step for the 31-year-old at this stage of his career.

When asked about a return to the club for Wallace, FLW’s Portsmouth fan pundit Miltos Ioannidis claimed he wouldn’t even need to think twice about agreeing to it.

He believes the forward will have plenty of options this summer, but that a return to Pompey is something he’d like to see.

“Jed Wallace, good player, and I think I would take him without a second thought as well,” Ioannidis told Football League World.

“Undeniably, I don’t think he would be short of options this summer but I mean Jed is a wonderful player and has been a consistent performer at this level for a number of years now.

“He hasn’t played as much this season, and in the games that he’s featured he was mostly brought on as a substitute, so maybe he will be seeking a new adventure come the summer.

“And, I think without a second thought I would take him back at Portsmouth, where it all began for him.

“We are in need of a player that can play on the right, obviously on the left there’s Murphy, in the middle we’ve got Callum Lang and we need someone on the right in order to be able to complement the other two.

“And I think he would be a good fit.

“There will be other clubs looking at him, for sure, but I think given his past with us, he’s said many times that he always loved us for giving him the footsteps to start his own career.

“You never know, maybe he comes back and I think I would take him without thinking twice.”

Portsmouth are currently 19th in the Championship table, four points clear of the relegation zone with four games to play.

Wallace could be a solid signing for Portsmouth

Signing Wallace as a free agent would be a positive addition for Pompey, even if it’s been a difficult 12 months for the player.

He fits a need that John Mousinho’s side have going into the summer, and should be reasonably affordable due to being out of contract.

However, it’s likely there will be competition for his signature and Portsmouth may not be able to offer the same kind of wages as other clubs in the division.
