Ange Postecoglou says the chance to work with Cristiano Ronaldo was central to his decision to take charge of Al Nassr.

"When I reflect on my career, what stands out for me is that I've been unbelievably blessed in being part of other people's journeys," Postecoglou said. He was speaking on The Howie Games podcast.

"When I was a player, Ferenc Puskas was my coach, one of the greatest players of all time."

"So, there's no doubt, Cristiano Ronaldo's here, you kind of go, I can become a small part of his story as well."

The 61-year-old was appointed in July on a two-year contract, replacing new Portugal head coach Jorge Jesus. He had been out of work since October after a 39-day spell at Nottingham Forest.

"I wasn't going to turn around and say that's a backwards step for me. I never see things that way."

"I think, is there an opportunity there? Can I make an impact? Would I be excited about the prospect of doing it?"

Postecoglou has started strongly, with Al Nassr unbeaten in the 2026-27 campaign and he was named Saudi Pro League Manager of the Month for August. The champions are targeting another title and a first AFC Champions League crown.
