Potter given remit to save West Ham job

Graham Potter appears set to remain as West Ham boss until the next international break, where his position will then be decided upon.

Despite having endured a dreadful start to the season under Potter, with the club languishing in the relegation zone after 5 Premier League games, having lost 4 of those already which included hammerings from both Chelsea and Spurs at home – it is fair to say that Potter is under considerable pressure.

The West Ham boss is facing the sack with the club already holding talks with the likes of Slaven Bilic and Nuno Espirito Santo about taking over, however Potter is understood to have been given 2 matches to turn this dire situation around.

West Ham face both Everton and Arsenal away from home ahead of the break on the weekend of 11th October, whereby anything less that 4 points from those games will see the board consider retaining Potter.

The form under the former Chelsea boss suggests that points haul is unlikely, but we believe Potter is fighting and has called a meeting with his players to address the dreadful side, with the Everton game seen as a must win at all costs.

Should West Ham be on the receiving end of a heavy loss to David Moyes’ side, then the club may act sooner. However, its more likely that Potter will have the 2 games to show the board he is capable of addressing the dreadful situation the club finds itself in.
