A powerful minute’s silence was observed at Groupama Stadium before kick-off of OL against PAOK, in memory of seven Greek supporters who died in a road accident in Romania on Tuesday.
According to Le Progres, around 30,000 spectators stood and fell silent even before the referee signalled the tribute.
In the hush, a line of flares rose from the north end, while about 150 Greek supporters in the upper east section lit their mobile phones.
PAOK had initially been due to be backed by 3,000 travelling fans, but their trip was cancelled after the tragedy.
The away sector reserved for them remained closed.
