Stuttgart and Augsburg suffered defeats in their trips to England at the end of their respective pre-season preparations. Sebastian Hoeneß’s side narrowly lost to Fulham, while Leeds United beat Augsburg 4-0 at Elland Road.
Hours before their game at Craven Cottage, Stuttgart and the Premier League club played a behind-closed-doors friendly in Fulham’s training ground. Stuttgart reported that new signing Dzenan Pejčinović scored in a 2-0 win, with the other goal coming from Chema Andrés.
In addition to the former Wolfsburg striker, Deniz Undav and Bilal El Khannouss were among the players who took part in the game that was closed to the public. The two teams then played at Fulham’s stadium, with Belgian international Timothy Castagne scoring the only goal of the game in the 67th minute.
Meanwhile, Augsburg suffered a heavy defeat against Leeds United. Including Tarik Muharemovic’s acrobatic strike, Daniel Farke’s side scored three goals inside the first half hour. Anton Stach and Lukas Nmecha, who will both hope to return to the Germany national team setup under Jürgen Klopp, were among the goal scorers as Leeds recorded their second pre-season win over a Bundesliga club with a 4-0 victory.
Chrislain Matsima and Mert Kömür once again played for Augsburg after the club rejected multiple offers from Premier League clubs Crystal Palace and Hull City, respectively.
