Leeds United are set to field something close to their strongest side against Augsburg at Elland Road on Saturday, the final run-out before the 2026/27 Premier League begins. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the selection could also hint at plans for Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on August 22.

This is their second meeting with German opponents of the summer, after RB Leipzig left beaten last weekend. It is also a last chance for players to bank a full 90 minutes before the real stuff starts.

In goal, club-record arrival James Trafford only linked up on Tuesday then impressed against Manchester United at Croke Park 24 hours later, and he is expected to sample Elland Road for the first time as a Leeds player.

Joe Rodon could return to the starting XI after his half-time introduction at Croke Park, giving him minutes in front of Trafford. Jaka Bijol is over a minor pre-season issue, played 60 minutes against Leipzig and started on Wednesday, and can keep building sharpness.

Tarik Muharemovic was solid on Wednesday and looks the part as a left-sided centre-back. Saturday could be significant if Farke starts Trafford, Rodon, Bijol and Muharemovic together for the first time, his strongest back three and goalkeeper.

At right wing-back, Jayden Bogle played the first 45 minutes at Croke Park and is expected to start again. He has been steady all summer, while Willy Gnonto caught the eye when replacing the more natural wing-back.
