The Premier League’s bid to secure a harsher sanction for Leicester City has been rejected, leaving the club’s six-point deduction in place.
The league said in a statement that an independent appeal board upheld the February penalty for a breach of the EFL’s Profit and Sustainability Rules across the three years to 2023/24.
Leicester’s own challenge was dismissed too. The six-point figure was calculated solely on how far their losses exceeded the permitted threshold, with no uplift for aggravating factors.
The Premier League had appealed seeking extra punishment because the club filed their annual accounts late.
While the original commission found the late filing breached the rules, it decided against an additional sanction, a stance the appeal board endorsed.
With the deduction unchanged, City remain 22nd in the Championship, one point from safety, with five matches left.
