The Premier League confirmed Thomas Bramall will referee Saturday’s Leeds United v Crystal Palace at Elland Road. Craig Pawson will oversee VAR for the game.
Leeds return on a three-match unbeaten run after a 1-1 draw at Brentford on Sunday, Dominic Calvert-Lewin cancelling out Jordan Henderson’s opener. They had taken four points from Chelsea and Liverpool the previous week. Palace’s own sequence ended against Manchester City, and they sit fifth with Champions League ambitions, hosting KuPS in the Europa Conference League on Thursday before travelling to Elland Road 48 hours later.
Bramall will be assisted by Nick Greenhalgh and Bhups Singh-Gill, with Robert Jones as fourth official.
He has handled nine Premier League matches this season, averaging 21.22 fouls and 3.22 yellow cards per game. Those figures are around the division’s average. He has overseen one Leeds match and two involving Palace.
His last Elland Road outing came in October’s 2-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, a display that angered home supporters due to inconsistency and game-management tactics.
Daniel Farke avoided direct criticism, saying he would leave others to comment and that he could not influence appointments. Leeds will hope for a smoother night after lengthy VAR delays at Brentford, where a home penalty was overturned for offside and Calvert-Lewin’s equaliser required a prolonged onside check.
