Premier League clubs ‘to move’ for VfB Stuttgart’s Bilal El Khannouss? | OneFootball

Kicker reports that Newcastle United have enquired about VfB Stuttgart playmaker Bilal El Khannouss, with Everton, Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace also linked as the window enters its final days.

Stuttgart are not pushing a sale, but would consider one if a suitable offer arrived and the move appealed to the 22-year-old Moroccan international.

El Khannouss completed a permanent switch to Stuttgart earlier this year after an initial loan from Leicester City. He made 32 Premier League appearances for the Foxes in 2024/25.

He arrived late in last summer’s window alongside Algerian forward Badredine Bouanani. The pair were Stuttgart’s deadline-day attacking reinforcements after Nick Woltemade’s departure and Deniz Undav’s injury.

El Khannouss impressed before the Africa Cup of Nations, then struggled for rhythm on his return. Sebastian Hoeness left him out at times, most notably omitting him from May’s 3-0 DFB-Pokal final defeat to Bayern Munich, a decision the report said he viewed as a slight.

Even so, a parting of ways is not inevitable. He remains one of Stuttgart’s most gifted creators within Hoeness’s deep pool of attackers, and an injury in his position could hand him a start against Bayern in the Bundesliga opener.

Bouanani now sits lower in the pecking order amid competition from Jamie Leweling, Tiago Tomas and newcomer Leo Sauer, so a loan is favoured for the 21-year-old. Other Premier League sides could yet test Stuttgart’s stance before the deadline.
