The Cityzens have confirmed they will appeal against the verdict. The appeal hearing must be concluded within 12 weeks of being filed.

City could delay the process by arguing the new rules should not apply, as the charges brought against them pre-dtae their introduction.

Man City have dominated English football since Sheikh Mansoor’s takeover in 2008, winning 22 major trophies including eight Premier League titles and a Champions League.

Their reputation is on the line after being found guilty of all charges related to breaches of financial rules between the 2009-10 and 2017-18 seasons.

If their appeal fails, the club could be fined, docked points or expelled from the Premier League. Rival clubs are pushing for City’s case to be resolved before the current season ends.
