Kalvin Phillips would love to rejoin Leeds United this month, according to FourFourTwo, though the club’s January stance remains cautious.

Daniel Farke has not ruled out mid-season additions, despite Robbie Evans previously indicating Leeds would try to avoid January spending to stay within PSR limits.

Subsequent reports suggest scope to spend £20m to £25m without breaching thresholds. Injuries against Man United sidelined Jayden Bogle, Joe Rodon, Ethan Ampadu, Sean Longstaff and Dan James. A shift to 3-5-2 has underlined the lack of depth.

Leeds are likely to prioritise a centre-back, with Danilho Doekhi among the targets, and a striker, yet links to the Elland Road hero continue.

It is three and a half years since Phillips left. The 30-year-old has flopped at Manchester City after a £45m move, taking loans at Ipswich and West Ham. He signed a six-year deal in 2022 and has two and a half years remaining, and City are likely to sanction a loan or low-fee exit.

However, the report says Leeds are unlikely to pursue him given Ampadu’s presence and the additions of Longstaff and Anton Stach. Phillips was pictured over the weekend with former team-mates Luke Ayling, Liam Cooper, Mateusz Klich and Stuart Dallas.

There is interest elsewhere, with Wolves and Rob Edwards keen to bring him to Molineux before the window closes, having picked up in the last couple of games.
