Premier League: New last-gasp defeat, Liverpool’s dismal record continues
Liverpool collapsed once again in the dying seconds on Tuesday in the league against Wolverhampton. The Reds conceded a goal in the 94th minute. This scene has become all too familiar for the Reds this season.
Liverpool lost to Wolverhampton in injury time. The Anfield club has now suffered its fifth defeat of the season to a goal conceded after the 90th minute in the Premier League—a number never before reached in a single campaign in the club’s history.
A scenario repeated throughout the season
Liverpool’s first stoppage-time defeat came against Crystal Palace, conceding in the 97th minute to lose 2-1. Then Chelsea snatched victory in the 95th minute by the same scoreline. Next, Bournemouth sealed a 3-2 win in the 95th, before Manchester City triumphed 2-1 thanks to a 93rd-minute strike. Wolverhampton now completes this bleak list.
These poorly managed endings have cost Liverpool precious points. Without those last-gasp goals conceded, Liverpool could have turned several defeats into draws and preserved at least five more points in the table. Beyond the numbers, it’s the late-game management that truly raises concerns.
