So far this season, the Leeds United Foundation have continued to provide educational sessions around different topics and subjects to schools across the region through their Premier League Primary Stars initiative.

One of the highlights saw the club's official charity partner with West Yorkshire Police and two local primary schools, to deliver a targeted after-school programme aimed at reducing anti-social behaviour and developing positive values among a group of pupils.

This programme focused on building key life skills through weekly sessions, combining classroom workshops and physical activity with the support of Community Support Officers. These sessions enabled the pupils to explore what values were important to them, and how they impact daily life.

Clear and positive progress was seen week on week through this specialised programme, with improved engagement, behaviour and willingness to participate. The programme also reduced time spent in environments where anti-social behaviour could occur, while increasing physical activity and positive peer interaction.

The success of the project highlights the importance of early intervention and the power of sport, education and positive role models in shaping young people’s behaviour and their outlook within their schools and local communities.

As well as these partnership sessions, the Foundation also demonstrated their commitment to supporting the National Year of Reading, hosting an unforgettable Author Day at Elland Road, inviting pupils from various partner schools to join for a celebration of books, creativity, and the joy of reading.

The event brought together three fantastic children’s authors, including Tom Palmer, and the creative duo Will and Fran Bradley, who delivered exciting and age-appropriate workshops for Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 pupils.

Th award-winning author led a dynamic and thought-provoking session for Key Stage 2 pupils, with Palmer explored what it means to be a writer, the importance of resilience, and the role reading can play in unlocking imagination and confidence.

Will and Fran Bradley, creators of The Untold Tales of Crank Claus, brought festive fun and creative energy to Key Stage 1 pupils. Their interactive storytelling encouraged children to play with ideas, characters, and emotions, reinforcing that reading is not just educational, but magical.

To compliment the workshops, pupils also took part in a variety of literacy-themed games and activities designed to build teamwork, spark curiosity, and make reading tangible and exciting.

The day was rounded off with a behind-the-scenes Elland Road stadium tour, giving children an unforgettable chance to explore one of football’s most iconic venues.

This event formed part of the Foundation's wider commitment to promoting literacy, nurturing creativity, and giving children impactful experiences that support the National Year of Reading’s mission, which is to empower every child to discover a love of reading that lasts a lifetime.
