The Juventus Women’s First Team began pre-season in style with a 2-0 win over Servette. After the game, coach Isaac Guerrero and captain Martina Rosucci spoke. 

ISAAC GUERRERO

“We’re pleased - it was a good test for us at this stage of our preparation, and the girls responded. Servette put us into a lot of situations that we needed to manage, and I think we did that well. We want to stay true to what we’re working on: maintaining possession, taking the initiative, and having an attacking style of play.

“We did very well in the first half. In the second, the pace expectedly slowed, but the girls stayed in control. Our goal is to build a strong offensive style, while also being able to close off the spaces we leave in behind us. This game allowed us to continue the work we started last week, and to test ourselves against our objectives. We’re on the right track. 



“There isn’t a lot of time left before 5 August, but that’s not an excuse. We have to make the most of every session, and always prioritise quality over quantity. The overall takeaway from our time in the Aosta Valley is one of positivity. We’ve trained well, with intensity, and we’ve had a great welcome here, with access to amazing facilities. Above all, this training camp has allowed us to be together, share ideas, and build something as a group. I’m happy with the players I coach every day, the new arrivals have fit in right away with the right enthusiasm and skill, but I was also struck by the warm welcome the team gave them, and that says a lot about this group’s values.”

MARTINA ROSUCCI

“The training camp has gone very well, and we started off with a win. When you play for Juventus, there’s no such thing as a friendly, so we’re happy with the result but above all with the fact that we were able to put into practice what we’ve been working on all week. 

“The coach has introduced a new and engaging style of play, and we’re trying to adjust to it every day. We’re getting along well, it’s a young group with clear goals, and we’re helping the new girls to settle - they’re all keen to wear this shirt. It’s very important to us, and I’m sure that we’ll continue to grow.

“Being here in the Aosta Valley has been great, it’s a beautiful place, and seeing so many people in the stands watching us is nice to see. Playing in front of our fans is always special, and we want to thank them for their constant support. Juventus always play to win, and even in a tough season like last year, we managed to win a trophy, but we know we didn’t perform to our best in the league. That’s why our goal remains to win every game we play. We’ve got a lot of objectives ahead of us, starting with qualifying for the Champions League. We want to take these on one at a time, with focus and determination.”
