Preston North End striker Milutin Osmajic has been linked with a move to Spanish side Deportivo La Coruna.

The 26-year-old joined the Lilywhites two years ago from Cadiz, breaking North End’s transfer record (£2.1m) in the process and despite moments of controversy, has become a fan favourite at Deepdale.

A couple of goals in North End’s opening two Championship games, including a late winner in front of the Town End against Leicester City, has attracted interest from across the continent, according to Riazor.

With PNE particularly thin in forward areas, it would be a real blow for the Lancashire outfit if they were to lose the Montenegrin striker this close to the end of the window.

Football League World’s Preston North End fan pundit, Darren Watson, believes that only a mammoth bid should tempt Paul Heckingbottom and Peter Ridsdale into selling Osmajic.

Preston North End told to take firm Milutin Osmajic transfer stance

“I don't think that we are in a position to sell him,” stated Darren. “With our obvious lack of threat in front of goal.

“Daniel Jebbison is injured, so we've got Osmajic and Michael Smith as our strike force. We really, really can't afford to let anybody go at this present moment.

“We’ve got nobody concrete coming in or on a loan with an option to buy. I've heard reports that Preston North End value him at the £20 million mark, to obviously get buyers away from him.

“But again, it is Preston North End and if by some miracle a team comes in and offers £20 million, then I think it's a no-brainer, we have to let him go.

“But we have to invest that money and I can't stress how important that is because many times, and it's happened in the past, we've let players go and we haven't invested that money.

“I do not want Osmajic to go full stop. I don't think we can afford it. We can't afford his goals to go away because we don't have another goal threat. He's a proven goal scorer.

“We know if we can get the ball to him in the right area, he will score. We can't let him go. So, I'd put the price tag sky-high just to warn people off.

“If anything, we should be giving him a new contract. He's coming into his own now and he's going to be one of our top stars here at Preston North End.”

Milutin Osmajic would be a huge loss for Preston North End

Over the past few seasons, Osmajic has provided a beacon of hope for Preston North End supporters throughout some difficult moments.

Hat-tricks against Huddersfield Town and Harrogate, crucial strikes at the expense of Burnley and Bristol City; the Lilywhites’ frontman has captured the hearts and minds of the Deepdale faithful.

PNE haven’t spent heavily this summer and therefore can’t afford to let a proven Championship goalscorer leave their ranks so close to the end of the window.
