Oxford United strike twice after the break to climb two places

Oxford United beat Preston North End 3-1 at Deepdale on Friday, climbing from 23rd to 21st in the Championship.
Michał Helik put the visitors ahead in the fifth minute, steering in from close range after Cameron Brannagan's delivery. Milutin Osmajic levelled with a glanced header (12.) from Benjamin Whiteman's cross.
Preston lost Callum Lang to injury in the fourth minute of first half stoppage time, with Daniel Jebbison coming on.
After the restart, Will Lankshear restored the lead from Stanley Mills' corner (54.). Ciaron Brown then forced in a third from point-blank range (61.) after Helik's knockdown.
Jamie Cumming was sharp to repel efforts as Preston pushed late, while David Cornell denied Mills during an end-to-end first half. Oxford's rearguard stood up under pressure, clearing repeatedly in their box.
Preston had 70% possession and nine corners. Oxford United registered seven shots on target from 15 attempts and made 69 clearances.
The result drops Preston from 11th to 12th. Next, Preston visit Coventry. Oxford United host Blackburn.
