Lincoln City beat Preston North End 1-0 at Deepdale, with Freddie Draper's late header moving the visitors from 17th to 16th in the Championship.

Preston forced the issue for long spells, delivering 16 corners and 45 crosses. George Wickens kept Lincoln in it with key stops from Stanley Mills and Johnny Kenny as the pressure mounted.

In the 81st minute, substitute Freddie Draper headed in from close range after a cross by Andrei Coubiș to decide the game.

Lincoln had to reshuffle when Daniel Oyegoke went off injured, but they stayed compact and threatened on the break through Chiedozie Ogbene.

Four minutes were added as Preston pushed, and Andrew Hughes saw a late header blocked with the visitors defending their box.

Preston tallied 11 attempts and 51.6% possession but could not find a finish. Lincoln City made 50 clearances and Wickens recorded two saves in a disciplined away display.

Next, Preston visit Queens Park Rangers. Lincoln City travel to Bristol City.
